Quiberron lets Tyrects know that his examination is complete and he can finish removing the bodies. He tells the remaining members of the group that he found a brand that looked like a stag’s skull on both the ogres. While thinking about what to do with this new clue, his eyes chance on Sabal, and he remembers his earlier interest in the pale elf—an interest that has now doubled since another pale elf seemingly led the attack on the manor.
“Excuse me,” he says to Sabal, “how did you come to be here today? I don’t believe I’ve ever met one of your kind before. I don’t mean to imply that you must personally know every one of your countrymen, but by any chance did you recognize our attacker today? Either personally or anything about her attire, accent, weapons, or behavior that would provide a clue as to who she might be?” Sabal pauses for a moment, then catches himself, looks down, and replies, "Forgive me—I am still unaccustomed to being treated kindly by strangers. I have been away from the dark for many years. I came here... because I had few options remaining." He finally makes eye contact with Quiberron, his expression troubled. "I did not recognize the pale elf priestess. It is very unusual for one of our kind to be here, so far south of the northern mountains. It think, however, that the presence of two of us here is perhaps coincidence; she did not know me, and as far as I can tell, she is not affiliated with my... past." “Hmm, I’m not sure I believe in coincidences, but there doesn’t seem to be an obvious connection. Did you recognize her clothing or weapons? You said she was a priestess? Were you able to tell of what deity? I’d be curious to know her caste or organizational affiliations, or even if she is another outcast.” "Most likely she is a priestess of the Scorpion Goddess, but I recognized nothing that would suggest any affiliation that I know of." “Thank you. That’s something anyway.” Comments are closed.
